- Dear Siegrid, Yesterday when I helped you at Wiegands Nursery you had given
me your website...I thought I would spend a few minutes looking it over, but it
turned into three hours!!!! What a wonderful site full of information. I also
liked all the birds too. I have an Umbrella Cockatoo with a vocabulary of nearly
80 words. He was listening intensely to the bird and wildlife sounds from your
website. I will be getting back on your site soon....it is fascinating and
highly educational. I very much enjoyed spending time with you Monday. Hope to
see you again soon. Debbie Swanboro

love your pictures. I have a number of bromeliads in my garden but
it doesnt have contrasting colors. Maybe its because of the weather
here in the Philippines. Could you give some advice on how to raise
colorful bromeliads .

- I recently saw a young man in Gisborne New Zealand who was selling
these beautiful plants at a flea market, and was instantly hooked, I
had previously seen them in a TV show called "Burkes
Backyard" (Australian Programme). I obtained 1 Vreasea from
him, and with two pups I instantly had three, great!!!
On our next visit we bought another variety, from these two we now
have 14. We live in Hamilton New Zealand and in the winter it gets
quite cold so its all trial and error from here on in. I will
probably have to bring them inside for the winter months. Am trying
to find out as much as I can about these beautiful plants. I am also
trying to get some pineapples from the supermarket to grow too.

- Wonderful site, wish there was more information about the workings
of your greenhouse, how do you keep the climatic conditions right
for all the tropical inhabitants. I have a climate controlled
greenhouse, and only beginning to discover the joy of having anoles
and geckoes in it. Although a lot remains to be figured out to
provide them with a proper habitat, and to be able to increase the
diversity in both flora and fauna of my greenhouse. Is there a place
where I can find out more specifics about your greenhouse?
thanks for your wonderful work

winter!) Living in a flat, I dont have enough space for the entire
cactus I would like to have - but nevertheless, I always seem to
find room for just one more! To day I have abut 50 cacti. I got my
first cactus in 1982. I have seen many cacti around the world. The
must beautiful cacti I have ever seen come from South America. I
have been in South America in the summer of 1982. Let me hear from

whilst they are so informative with the rich articles. I've come

Before I read your article, I didn't even have a faintest idea of
growing cacti out-of-doors in Michigan. I want to try those cacti
species in Seoul where the winter temperature usually goes down to 5
degrees Fahrenheit and sometimes even lower to -4 degrees F. Could

out-of-doors? I'll pay the expenses that occur.
Thanks.

Never having been in the desert, except for passing quickly through
the heat, I knew nothing of what I was missing until I was
introduced to my first monstrosus. I fell in love. Also growing up
in Northern California I loved the sound of the frogs at night.
Their rythmic sounds put me to sleep at night. I am saddened that I
no longer hear them except rarely on an evening walk. Thank you for
the beautiful sights and sounds.

cacti and bromeliads (and a some conservation)- however I have a pen
friend in Michigan, who I met in Texas, who may be interested in

of cacti that grow in your state, both Opuntias (prickly pears)These,
I am afraid are boring! However I grow some Saracenias from
collected seed in 'Northern' Michigan. Have you seen these? Keep up
the good work.
